Juanita SauveOttawa, ONemail: jrsquiltsATgmail.com My work is an expression of the peace I find in the outdoors, and in music. It celebrates the beauty around me and my own sense of gratitude and awe. My love of Newfoundland and Cape Breton Island has translated into several landscape pieces. When hiking, my camera is always with me, capturing my moments in time. At other times, I venture into gentle social commentary with pieces that come directly from my imagination. Always, I find that I am telling stories in fabric. My work is stitched and quilted entirely by hand. I paint with acrylics as well and love to combine paints, dyes, and inks with fabric. I also add beads, rocks, gemstones, even driftwood, when appropriate. My goal is to challenge myself artistically, to experiment and learn new techniques. Since I am enthusiastic amateur photographer, my latest experiments involve photo transfer onto fabric.
