The focus of my art is everyday life and how it provides the framework for our human experience. To create, I draw upon myself as a person including my background as an anthropologist, my appreciation of the tradition of quilting as woman’s work, and my fascination with design ideas taken from everyday items. Forms and colours inspired by nature are also a theme in my work, representing energy and renewal. I choose to work with fabric because of its variety and sensual qualities, and for its intimate connection to our lives from birth to death. I frequently embellish my pieces with paint, natural found objects, and recycled household items.
