In Other Words: The Idiom Challenge quilt
Many of the members of the Out of the Box Fibre Artists group participated in an idiom challenge... the challenge was to create a 12X12 inch textile block that represented an idiom. We had current idioms, regional idioms, old-fashioned idioms and even idioms in French. What fun!!! The blocks were then put together into a single art piece that we call "In Other Words". This work is currently doing the show circuit. Look for it at an exhibition near you!
Thanks so much to Kit Vincent and Jennifer Hodge for organizing the creation of this work!!!! Click the image above to see a the quilt in detail.
This piece has been juried into 'Images at Tsongas Arena' at the Lowell Quilt Festival in Lowell, MA. It is one of 134 quilts, + three wearables. So if you are planning to be in New England this August . . . stopping at the Lowell Quilt Festival is a must! (August 3-6, 2006). For more information visit: www.lowellquiltfestival.org
